I once had one of those fancy display sets, with large plastic pieces set
up on a small chess table.  One of the cats I had at the time would jump
onto the table, pick up pieces in his teeth, and move them elsewhere on
the board.  Really.  I don't know if he was just imitating something he'd
seen me do, or what.  (Who knows what motivates cats?)

Another cat at the same time would also play with the pieces, but he liked
to carefully push them to the edge and watch them fall off (a common behavior
of his with other objects, as well.)
