Why? Because the beginner's opponent's will generally be similarly disadvantaged. The games will be wide open tactical battles - interesting, absorbing, and fun! Two beginners can begin their chess careers exploring, with fresh eyes, that great sea of possibilities. They may also learn that a little research can earn them a few quick points. But, they'll never be in danger of learning enough "moves" to be completely safe from a slightly better prepared opponent. Every game will be new, different, and fun! Beginners should *play*...they have time enough to play safe, boring chess when they get old and gray. -Ken Sloan -- Kenneth Sloan sloan@cis.uab.edu Computer and Information Sciences (205) 934-2213 University of Alabama at Birmingham FAX (205) 934-5473 Birmingham, AL 35294-1170 http://www.cis.uab.edu/info/faculty/sloan/ From info!dregis Mon Oct 7 11:14:47 BST 1996
